New wave New Yorker cover made from emoji icons
12/13/2012Eustace Tilley, the venerable icon of the New Yorker magazine, has seen any number of reincarnations -- but this one might be the most modern. Fred Benenson produced the image from emoji icons for a contest that he ultimately realized he couldn’t enter (because his girlfriend works at the magazine) in 2009, but it’s seeing a second life in a new contest this year: “We got the vibe that it wasn’t going to fly,” he said. The contest will run through January 7, 2013, if you think you can beat him.
