Newspaper blasted for running gun ad next to stories on shooting
12/15/2012Twitter is showing no mercy on a South Carolina newspaper that idiotically ran a three-quarter-page advertisement for a gun sale next to its coverage of the Connecticut school shooting. Boasting about Christmas discounts on Smith & Wesson assault rifles, the advertisement ran alongside a photo of Obama weeping over the children slain by semi-automatic weapons. Although editor Paul Osmundson quickly issued an apology, assuring readers the placement was unintentional, it appeared too late for relentless tweeps: "Any1 paying attention at the Rock Hill Herald, a newspaper in South Carolina, anyone, ANYONE?" tweeted @NYCHope. @KySandy said, "Way to keep it classy South Carolina" while @syleecia exclaimed simply, "OH HOW THOUGHTFUL OF THEM!?" Pretty sure someone is missing their Christmas bonus this year. [Source]
