British newspaper politely demands that it stop raining

7/15/2012

For weeks, Gloomy Guses all across the U.S. have been whining about this summer’s oppressive heat wave. Now, if the op-ed in today’s London Times is any indication, we can add soggy Brits to the list of folks who can’t wait for a weather upgrade. In an unsigned newspaper editorial, the Times demands—politely, of course—that “it must stop raining, and soon" and warns that “we are against this weather.” Exactly what the opinion piece hopes to accomplish is unclear; last we checked, our weather wishes didn’t get magically granted by a fairy godmother, no matter how vehemently we wished them. But we don’t blame the U.K. for trying. What with the constant downpours, flooding and canceled events, it does sound pretty icky there. [Source]
