Gun map removed from newspaper's site, cheers and boos resound
1/20/2013A New York newspaper has removed its gun map after weeks of controversy and the hiring of armed guards. The Journal News says the decision to take down the interactive map, which came under fire for including the names and addresses of local gun owners, is due to the passage of gun legislation in Albany, not a response to critics. But pro-gun Twitter users were quick to jump at the chance to jab at the newspaper, cheering at the map's removal and booing its editor. The anti-gun contingent lamented the move, as well as a provision in the new law letting current permit holders request private info be removed from the statewide database. [Source]
