Paper rejects lesbian couple's wedding announcement

Same-sex marriage is illegal in North Dakota, but same-sex wedding announcements? Apparently they are, too -- at least they are at the Forum of Fargo-Moorhead. The newspaper refused to print an announcement for Allison Johnson and Kelsey Smith (who is from Fargo), sending the couple a terse email that said the paper did not print “engagement and wedding announcements for same-sex couples.” The couple -- to be wed on Aug. 1 in New York -- were stunned. Johnson posted the email on her Facebook page, the story went viral, and the newspaper was soon inundated with complaints.
