NFL might give kickoffs the boot in its fight against concussions

12/7/2012

With concussions and other injuries on the rise due to violent collisions, the NFL has some doubts about the safety of kickoffs, so it's going to punt. Under a radical rule change the league's competition committee will consider this offseason, games could start with a team having the ball on its own 30-yard line, but stuck in a fourth- and-15 situation with the option of punting or going for the first down.
