NHL goalie blows playoff hopes but cheers up young fan
4/26/2012Plenty of folks have expressed dislike for Boston Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas this season because he refused to go to the White House with the rest of the team to celebrate last season's Stanley Cup victory. He may have won a few hearts back last night for two classy moves: After letting in the playoff series-deciding goal in overtime against the Washington Capitals, he told young Caps goalie Braden Holtby, "Great job, kid" in the handshake line and then skated directly over to a young, tearful Bruins fan and motioned to the kid to cheer up. He may not have saved the final goal, but at least he saved some face.
