Olympian Nick Symmonds chugs brewskies while running race

8/23/2012

Here's one way to drown your sorrows after failing to medal at the Olympics. U.S. runner Nick Symmonds, who finished fifth in the 800-meter race in London, tried to set a new world record Tuesday in the Beer Mile, a race in Oregon that requires racers to suck down a full beer — Symmonds chose Coors — at the starting gun and then every quarter of a mile thereafter. The track star chugged through his mile in the U.S. record-setting time of 5:15, unfortunately not fast enough to best the 5:09 world record held by Canadian marathoner Jim Finlayson. A real rivalry may be brewing, but with a little more practice and dedication, we bet Symmonds can get that record in the can. [Source]
