No people in this planned $1B N.M. town, but lots of toilets
5/9/2012Eerie New Mexico Town, Population: 0. A $1 billion "ghost town" is being planned in the Southwestern state, complete with office buildings, gas stations, a shopping center and all the other trappings of residential normalcy -- except there will be no residents. The town is being constructed solely so that researchers can test out new technologies and green initiatives such as automated washing machines and self-flushing toilets. "The only thing we won't be doing is destructive testing, blowing things up," says one director involved with the project. We're kind of disappointed to hear about the dearth of detonations. Besides, who would be there to complain?
What technology would you like to see tested in this new town?
