Sensible new $20 cellphone only needs charging once a month

2/27/2013

If you're of the view that a phone that was actually "smart" wouldn't require charging every five minutes, then Nokia has the cellphone for you — and the developing world! Set for release in the next few weeks, the Nokia 105 will cost a measly $20 and will last 35 days before it needs to be recharged. Other than a color screen, flashlight and FM radio, it's pretty low in features. Ideal for areas where electricity (and money) are scarce, Nokia hopes the phone will do well in countries where folks need phones to, you know, make calls, rather than post pictures of their babies on Facebook.
