North Koreans can only choose from 28 very bad hairstyles

On North Korea’s list of state-approved hairstyles, you will not find hawks (either mo or faux), the Skrillex, cornrows, braids or dreads. What you will find are 18 styles for the ladies that all resemble either something Imelda Marcos rocked, or look straight out of a 1980s high-school yearbook. Sexy, they are not. Which is the point — the North Korean government wants to stamp out Western influences. It doesn’t get much better for dudes, who are limited to 10 styles that all appear influenced by televangelists or the kids in “Hoosiers.” Men are also supposed to keep their hair shorter than five centimeters and should get it cut every 15 days.
