Absolutely no one is impressed with contents of Norway mystery package

8/24/2012

The super-secret mystery package that had all of Norway in breathless anticipation awaiting the revelation of its contents contained ... old newspaper clippings, some notebooks and other random papers, which sounds like a collection assembled by someone's grandmother. Blurgh. The package was supposedly sealed in 1912 (some of the clippings were from 1914 and 1919) and delivered to the mayor of the town of Otta in the 1920s. Friday's ceremony was attended by dignitaries, including Princess Astrid, and for all the pomp and circumstance, the whole shebang was kind of a letdown. The opening was part of a ceremony celebrating the 400th anniversary of Otta's victory over Scottish troops sent by Sweden. Whoo-hoo. [Source]
