NRA membership shoots up by 250,000 in month since Sandy Hook
1/16/2013In the month following the Sandy Hook massacre, the NRA has enjoyed a sharp spike in membership, with folks who like guns flocking to join as new legislation looms. The National Rifle Association has reported 250,000 new members in the past four weeks, 50,000 of them signing up in the past five days. "I would say every time President Obama opens his mouth … about gun bans and restricting the rights of law abiding Americans, people pay attention to that and sign up," said the lobby group's public affairs director Andrew Arulanandam. The new wave of membership brings the lobby group's total membership to around 4.25 million. [Source]
