NRA ends silence, says it will 'offer meaningful contributions'
12/18/2012The National Rifle Association has issued its first statement since the deadly school shootings last Friday in Newtown, Conn. The organization said it was “prepared to offer meaningful contributions” to prevent future massacres, though it made no mention of guns or gun control in a short statement. Ending a self-imposed media blackout -- it stopped tweeting and deactivated its Facebook account — the NRA said its members were “shocked, saddened and heartbroken by the news of the horrific and senseless murders” at Sandy Hook Elementary School. The statement said the NRA would hold a news conference Friday. [Source]
