NRA slammed for badly timed tweet after theater massacre

Amid the horror and tragedy of the movie theater shooting in Colorado, a Twitter account connected to the National Rifle Association sent out a very badly timed message. The tweet from @NRA_Rifleman greeted followers with, "Good morning,shooters. Happy Friday. Weekend plans?" The tweet has since been deleted, but not before the organization was criticized for the ill-timed message. The tweet was posted at 9:20 a.m. Eastern time and sent via social media managing tool HootSuite, so many users initially thought it had been scheduled to post long before the shooting. However, an NRA spokesman later said the tweet was by "a single individual, unaware of events in Colorado" and was being taken out of context. [Source]
