NRA's explanation of gun control memo is not at all biased

Just ahead of tonight's State of the Union address, the NRA released an ad citing an internal Justice Department memo to undermine the reasoning of two key pillars of tighter gun legislation. First, the ad notes the memo says a ban on assault weapons won't work without mandatory gun buybacks. The NRA's Executive Director Chris Cox that's not a buyback, that's confiscation. Cox cites the memo for also saying background checks for firearm purchases won't work without gun registration, Gun registration, Cox argues, would be an "illegal abuse of privacy and freedom unprecedented in our history." Apparently they decided those are better issues than "Are the president's kids more important than yours?"
