Off-duty nurses put drinks down to save life of gunshot victim at bar

1/8/2013

It's hard to call a shooting victim lucky, but the bullet-riddled man who staggered into a Minneapolis bar in the early hours of Sunday is just that. The unidentified 22-year-old had been shot six times at a nearby business, but somehow made it to Maxwell's bar. "I've been shot," he yelled and — although the bartender briefly thought he was placing an order — the six off-duty nurses who happened to be drinking there flew into action. They tended his wounds with bar towels and a basic first aid kit and used the man's own belt as a tourniquet. Their quick response kept him conscious until paramedics arrived. Thanks to the quick-thinking nurses, the victim is expected to survive. Their drinks were on the house. [Source]
