NY Times says it's living in fear of mysterious Chinese hackers
1/31/2013It's war on 42nd Street. The New York Times revealed Wednesday night that it has been under attack by Chinese hackers in the wake of reporting on the personal finances of China's prime minister, Wen Jiabao. On Oct. 25, the paper reported that Wen's relatives had amassed a fortune of billions of dollars through various business deals; not long after, hackers apparently began a four-month assault on the paper, including accessing the email accounts of its Shanghai bureau chief. As to the culprits, the Times said that the hackers "use[d] methods that some consultants have associated with the Chinese military." [Source]
