NYPD channels Batman, fights drug theft in Gotham with GPS bottles
1/15/2013Officer, follow that bottle! The New York Police Department has hatched an ingenious plan to thwart thefts of painkillers and other addictive prescription meds by planting pill bottles secretly containing GPS chips at pharmacies. NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly, who will unveil the plan Tuesday, says these "bait bottles," which would be mixed among real pill bottles, could be tracked in theft situations and "may lead us to stash locations across the city." The initiative was spurred on by a recent rash of "high-profile crimes associated with the thriving black market for prescription drugs." Drug thieves, you’ve been warned. [Source]
