NYT columnist apologizes for 'magic underwear' Romney jab
2/24/2012During Tuesday's GOP debate, New York Times columnist Charles M. Blow responded to a Mitt Romney comment by tweeting "stick that in your magic underwear," a derogatory remark aimed at Romney's Mormon religion. Adult Mormons wear temple garments beneath their clothes, a "connection to their religion" that has been compared to the Jewish yarmulke. Yesterday, Romney responded by quipping, "I guess we're finding out for the first time that the media is a little biased." The Times hasn't commented, but on Friday morning, Blow tweeted "Btw, the comment I made about Mormonism [...] was inappropriate and I regret it. I'm willing to admit that with no caveats."
Should the NYT have commented?
