Obama and Romney quickly fire their debate zingers10/4/2012
The first presidential debate started nicely enough, with President Obama sending a shout-out to his wife and Mitt Romney congratulating the president on the couple’s 20th wedding anniversary. But, as the candidates launched into a discussion on the economy, Obama repeated his claim that Romney is planning a $5 trillion tax cut that will ultimately benefit the super-rich and burden the middle class. Romney shot him down, saying the accusation was false: "I've got five boys. I'm used to people saying the same thing over and over again hoping it becomes true." Obama countered with his own zinger, accusing Romney of backing away from an earlier position on taxes: "Five weeks before the election his big bold idea is, 'Never mind.'"
Who had the best opening zinger?
