Obama, Geraldo expose split reaction to Trayvon's death
3/23/2012President Obama was asked about slain Florida teen Trayvon Martin late Friday morning. "If I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon," he responded. "[His parents] are right to expect that all of us are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves."
But in a Fox News interview, Geraldo Rivera caught many by surprise. He said that Trayvon's hoodie was "as much responsible for his death as George Zimmerman was," a comment that the Washington Post thought was a hoax, Forbes said they "[couldn't] make up," and the Maddow Blog called "hard to believe." Rivera then seemingly blamed Martin's family, suggesting that the parents of "black and Latino children" should stop them from wearing hoodies.
