Obama signs special bill to keep Nigerian student in med school

12/30/2012

Normally, the laws that land on the president's desk deal with the entire country, but one bill this year only affects a single man. That man is Victor Chukwueke, a Nigerian student who came to the U.S. to receive surgery on a number of disfiguring facial tumors. While here, he also graduated from a university and was accepted into medical school. Unfortunately, the institution requires all students to be permanent residents of the U.S. The government came together on an issue for once and granted the Nigerian his very own green card. Looks like sometimes politicians actually can put aside petty differences and do the right thing. [Source]
