Dinosaur named after the president had a killer smile

12/13/2012

Forget having a library or warship named after you, how about a dinosaur? The newly christened Obamadon gracilis was a small, prehistoric insect-eating lizard that died out 65 million years ago. OK, it's no T-Rex, but Harvard and Yale scientists had their eye on Obama's pearly whites when they named it. "The lizard has these very tall, straight teeth and Obama has these tall, straight incisors and a great smile." In Latin "Obamadon" literally mean's Obama's teeth and "gracilis" means slender. Lucky break, POTUS; in 2005 some of your colleagues from across the aisle landed the bum deal of lending their names to a species of slime-mold beetle, forever memorialized as A. bushi, A. cheneyi and A. rumsfeldi.
