Obama's gay marriage stand could make him richer
5/10/2012President Obama's endorsement of same-sex marriages wasn't just a savvy political play -- it was also a savvy financial one, according to supporters who believe his announcement could encourage rich gay people and disillusioned young voters to donate to his upcoming reelection bid. "LGBT co-chairs across the country are raising more money than we've ever raised... you'll see a lot more of that now," said one of Obama's top gay fundraisers. Gay Democratic advocate Jeff Soref added that the President's endorsement will sharpen the distinction between his Republican rival Mitt Romney, which might also boost donations.
