Someone will be the biggest loser in custody fight over obese Obie

You fell in love with poor Obie, the 5-year-old dachshund who struggled to move his 77 pounds from rest stop to rest stop. Now there's a little less of him to love: He's dropped 15 pounds. That should speak well of the efforts of Nora Vanatta, the former veterinary tech who adopted him and set up his Facebook page, but Oregon Dachshund Rescue has launched a custody fight, claiming the Portland EMT is exploiting the dog and pocketing donations sent in for Obie’s care. Vanatta contends she's sitting on the money because Obie may need surgery to remove excess skin.
