Ohio woman turns the search for her lost dog into a crusade

4/9/2012

Jody Gardner of Newark, Ohio, is so desperate to find Flowers, her beloved Afghan hound who went AWOL back on Dec. 28, that she printed 8,000 missing-dog signs and handed them out. She offered a $1,000 reward, put up traps where she figured her pooch might venture -- and even enlisted her daughter's Afghan hound to help out. When that didn't work, Gardner and helpers pounded more than 100 bright-yellow plastic signs into the ground all over town. When the signs lingered, complaints poured in, prompting city officials to remove them. The good news: The city has agreed to let Gardner put back the signs up if she applies for a 30-day permit. Let's hope Flowers appreciates all the hard work.
