Old shipwreck might be crammed with Viking treasure
6/19/2012Few things excite archaeologists more than buried treasure, so it's no wonder they're pretty thrilled about the prospect of exploring an 800-year-old shipwreck recently discovered by divers off the south coast of Sweden. "If it was left under dramatic circumstances, who knows what treasures the insides of the ship may hold?" enthused underwater archaeologist Lars Einarsson. He cautioned that the ship isn't necessarily a Viking vessel, and added that excavation will be "troublesome" because of the ship's position of the seafloor. So we might never know if the wreck holds any cursed helmets haunted by the angry souls of dead Viking warriors.
What would you do if you found a lost treasure?
