Old shot shows death-defying Brooklyn Bridge workers
4/25/2012Nearly 900,000 photos of New York City -- some dating back to the 1880s -- were made available online today, and the standout is this incredible shot of 10 painters reclining on the cables of the Brooklyn Bridge in October, 1914. It was shot by municipal photographer Eugene de Salignac, who photographed the city from 1906 to 1934. Of course, if this shot isn't doing anything for you, there are around 870,000 others to choose from -- including tax-record images of every dwelling in the city and grisly crime-scene photos shot by NYPD detectives.
What's your take on the bridge shot?
