Olympic legend thinks slave descendants have advantage
7/5/2012Sprinting legend Michael Johnson won four Olympic gold medals and eight world championships back in his running days. His enthusiasm and fancy gold shoes were great unifiers. These days, though, he's unfortunately attributing some of his skills to one of the nation's sorest subjects. "Difficult as it was to hear, slavery has benefited descendants like me," Johnson said, according to the Daily Mail. "I believe there is a superior athletic gene in us." The way Johnson sees it, black American and Caribbean athletes will have an advantage for the coming London Olympics. Oh, c'mon, Michael, we thought you were a uniter, not a divider.
Do you think his theory is true or hogwash?
