Olympic wrestling champion keeps his toe in the fridge
4/8/2012Olympian Rulon Gardner won a gold medal in Greco-Roman wrestling at the 2000 Sydney Olympics against previously undefeated Russian Aleksandr Karelin, then famously lost a toe to frostbite in a 2002 snowmobiling accident. Maybe "lost" isn't the right word: The now-40 year old grappler has the amputated digit stashed in his fridge. "It's a gentle reminder of my stupidity," Gardner told the Des Moines Register. We don't know if "gentle" is the right word, but if it kills his appetite, all the better: The former "Biggest Loser" contestant must slim down to 264.5 pounds by April 20 to contend for a spot at the Summer Games.
