'Mummy porn' loses out to 'omnishambles' by lame Oxford folks

11/14/2012

Mummy porn, YOLO and Eurogeddon are bummed out today. After working all year to become viral word sensations, flying around the world via memes and tweets, in the end the catchy terms have been shortlisted, losing out to the relatively ho-hum "omnishambles." The linguistics buffs at the Oxford English Dictionary have declared "omnishambles" as their U.K. Word of the Year. In case you're among the practically everyone who's never heard of it, the word means a "situation that's been comprehensively mismanaged, characterized by a string of blunders and miscalculations." Or to use it in a sentence: Selecting this year's U.K. Word of the Year was obviously total omnishambles. [Source]
