Orlando's Amway Arena dies violently at age 23
3/25/2012The Amway Arena in Orlando, Florida was beautifully imploded this morning, brought down by 600 pounds of dynamite like a failed soufflé. Home to the Orlando Magic NBA franchise among others, the arena had been in use since January 1989. The arena lost its primary occupants in October 2010 when Amway Center opened. The flawless demolition took place at the emotionally volatile hour of 7:30 a.m. ET, as these things often are, which may have contributed to the breathless responses, quickly transitioning to nostalgia, from commentators and spectators.
What sports venue should be imploded next?
