Oscar, the world-traveling dog, dies after being hit by a car
1/17/2013Oscar the globetrotting dog has died. Oscar, who became famous after photos of him posing next to some of the world's most famous landmarks went viral, was hit by a car in San Jose, Calif., on Jan. 11. Oscar was rescued by his owner, Joanne Lefson, in Cape Town, South Africa, before he was scheduled to be put down at a local shelter. After rescuing Oscar, Lefson began taking her new pup around the world to advocate for shelter dogs, eventually venturing to 36 countries with the help of an official doggie passport. A memorial service is being planned for Oscar in Cape Town. [Source]
