Angry animal attacks swimmer, says she otter know better
7/16/2012Leah Prudhomme thought she was in for a routine training swim on Duluth's Island Lake. That was before she met the otter. She was halfway into her half-mile freestyle when she "felt a nip at her ankle." The otter's nips turned into bites and the bites turned into SWEET LORD GET YOUR FANGS OUT OF MY LEG! Prudhomme's dad pulled her into his boat and took her to the ER; she received treatment for 25 otter bites and endured a set of rabies shots. The 50-time triathlete hopes to recover for her next race, which will be held on that same lake. "I'm scared, but … it's not like I'll be bitten by another otter," she said. [Source]
