Our shoes are the real windows to our soles
6/13/2012Ever judged someone on their footwear? Like, boat shoes, no socks = D-bag on his day off. Six-inch heels on clear pumps = Stripper with daddy issues. Jesus sandals with long beige socks = Geography teacher driving a Pinto. Turns out people can accurately assess a person's qualities by looking at their shoes. Researchers at University of Kansas asked 63 candidates to look at 208 pictures of shoes belonging to real people. They were then asked to guess the gender, age, social status, political affiliation and personality traits of the wearers, including emotional stability, openness and how agreeable and extroverted they were. The candidates' choices were 90 percent accurate. So, in short, you are right to be judgmental of other people's footwear.
