Britain's heaviest metal may soon be landing at Ozzy Osbourne Airport

12/28/2012

Get ready for the coolest airport code you'll ever see on a baggage tag: OZZ. It seems the city fathers of Birmingham, England, are considering renaming the local airport in honor of everyone's favorite whacked-out heavy metal frontman, Ozzy Osbourne. Considering that Birmingham native Ozzy rarely needed a plane to be flying high in his performing days with Black Sabbath, it might be an odd choice. Still, his hometown is unabashedly proud. "Ozzy might not always have been a paragon of virtue, but he is a genuine, flesh and blood Brummie," said Jim Simpson, the band's first manager. And there's always the chance he'll bite off the head of a bat at the dedication.
