Teaser video for alien monsters vs. giant robots movie is unnecessary

The first teaser video for "Pacific Rim," the 2013 film by monster maestro, Guillermo del Toro, is the first taste of the movie's viral marketing campaign, which brings to mind the long and involved teaser trail for another monster tale, "Cloverfield." The "Breaking news: Kaiju Attack" video depicts panic and chaos as "Kaiju" (Japanese for monster) wreak havoc in San Francisco. Since "Pacific Rim" will have giant robots piloted by humans battling huge alien monsters, we don't really understand why a viral marketing campaign is needed at all. We're already there.
