Don't even bother trying a helicopter prison break in Greece

2/25/2013

A daring, helicopter-assisted prison break was foiled in Greece on Monday. The helicopter, carrying two armed passengers, a pilot and a technician, first attempted to tear down the chicken-wire fence surrounding Trikala prison with a hook suspended from a rope. When that plan failed, they lowered a rope to help convicted killer Panagiotis Vlastos flee (this was his fourth escape attempt). The helicopter's passengers began firing at prison guards with AK-47s, causing the guards to return fire. Vlastos, who had by then climbed into the copter, was shot, and the helicopter was grounded in the courtyard. Vlastos is currently recovering in the prison hospital. Here's hoping he starts watching less "Con Air" and more "Shawshank Redemption." [Source]
