Parents consider suing after kid isn't named valedictorian
6/25/2012Tired of those "My Kid's an Honor Student" or "My Kid Beat Up Your Honor Student" bumper stickers? Thanks to Nelson and Carol Marquez, we might see one that says "My Honor Student Sued Your Honor Student." The Los Angeles-area parents are considering suing the L.A. Unified School District after their daughter Elisha was named salutatorian, because she had a .05 lower GPA than valedictorian Jasmine Fernandez. What's the problem? The Marquezes say Elisha wasn't allowed to take as many AP classes as Jasmine, and now her studying and straight A's were "for nothing" (other than getting accepted to Stanford). "You don't want your kid to be a loser," Nelson said. Dude, only losers call their Stanford-bound daughters losers.
