Parents livid after learning ‘B is for bomb’ in nursery school
4/30/2012There are many ways to illustrate the letter B for nursery school kids; for instance, a picture of a baby or a ball comes to mind. However, in northern India the little tykes are being shown a photo of a bomb, and parents are, to use a word to depict the letter F, furious. They're also demanding to know why "chaku," the Hindi word for knife was chosen to represent the letter Ch. Rav Authar Dixit, president of a parent-student association in Uttar Pradesh state, said the national education board has launched an investigation as to how this language alphabet textbook could have been cleared for private nursery schools.
