Jerk parrot steals $947 from New Zealand tourist

2/5/2013

A kea parrot is being sought in the theft of $947 from a Scottish tourist's RV in New Zealand. Like many petty criminals, keas often commit crimes of opportunity. So, when the victim pulled over for photos at Arthur's Pass on New Zealand's South Island and failed to roll up his windows, the bird saw an open invitation and struck. Keas are especially intelligent birds, as well as being among the biggest jerks in the avian world, and have been blamed in recent years for a stolen passport and numerous acts of vandalizing cars in the area.
