Patient teen uses 5,000 soda can tabs to make prom dress
5/3/2012Who says today's kids demand instant gratification? Colorado high school junior Regan Kerr spent two years collecting 5,114 soda can tabs (and, no, she didn't drink 5,000 cans herself!) and then five months sewing them together to create the glittering aluminum sensation she wore to the prom last week. But creating the unique ode to recycling wasn't an easy task for someone who's never made a dress before: She says she faced issues including navigating the stitching around the zip mechanism and having to add straps to the originally-strapless metal gown after realizing how heavy it was. We want to know if she requested a heavy metal number for her first spin on the dance floor.
What do you think of Regan's dress?
