European couple gets gov't permission for 'Shrek'-themed wedding
2/26/2013A couple from the sEuropean island of Jersey dressed up as fictional kids' characters Shrek and Fiona for their wedding, but had to obtain special government permission to do so. Jersey law required that Paul and Heidi Bellas were able to be identified during their ceremony; a registrar had to be physically present to watch them put on their makeup. They also obtained permission from Jersey's home affairs minister, Senator Ian Le Marquand. But it wasn’t about the spectacle: "The essence is that Shrek represents true love. It doesn't matter who you are or what you look like, if the love is there then that is what it is about," Paul said. Aw. [Source]
