Broadwell's jealousy inadvertently started probe that revealed affair

When General Petraeus resigned, citing his affair with another woman, the nation quickly turned its eyes to Paula Broadwell, Petraeus’ biographer and jogging partner. However it seems another other woman was actually at the root of the scandal. Paula, a married mother of two, apparently sent harassing, threatening emails to 37-year-old Jill Kelley (friend and co-worker of the general) from an email account linked to Petraeus ("back off, ho" is how we imagine that subject line). Kelley went to the FBI with the threatening emails, and the FBI became concerned Petraeus' email account had been hacked; in the course of investigating, the agency uncovered his affair with the apparently possessive Broadwell.
