Man fined $140 for paying $25 bill in pennies

We’d give a penny for the thoughts of Jason Robert West. He was just found guilty of disorderly conduct after trying to pay a $25 medical bill with pennies. That’s not a crime, of course, but the way he did it — flinging 2,500 pennies onto the desk of a stunned receptionist with such force that the loud thump made others in the office think a gun had been fired — was a bit much. "I can’t understand why a reasonable person would do that," said Judge Ray Richards before laying down the charges, which will cost West a $140 fine.
