Wal-Mart wants worker charged with felony over stolen Oreos
2/21/2013Wal-Mart is pressing a felony charge against a 63-year-old worker accused of stealing a bag of Oreos. Penny Winters, of Portage, Ind., was arrested after surveillance footage showed "Ms. Winters select the package of cookies, open it and proceed to consume multiple cookies during her work shift." ("Multiple" of course implies more than one, but perhaps fewer than a full pack? We digress.) Winters, who had previously worked at a Wal-Mart in Arizona, was fired from her $11.40 per hour position, arrested and charged with felony theft. Winters reportedly told cops she thought the cookies had been provided by management. Clearly not. [Source]
