Perla the cat routinely saves the life of her 13-year-old owner
12/1/2012Perla is one little black cat who’s proving very lucky for her 13-year-old owner. Maria Gillon from Midlothian, Scotland, suffers from ventricular tachycardia, a condition that more than doubles her heart rate and causes crippling attacks of chest pain that can prevent Maria from moving or talking. The ailment also makes Maria's heart susceptible to stopping beating, especially in the middle of the night. Luckily, the girl's furry friend, who sleeps with her every night, can tell when Maria is in distress — the clever kitty jumps off the bed, runs into Maria's mother's room and nibbles her toes until she wakes up. Perla then returns to Maria and stays with her until the ambulance crew arrives. Aw. Sounds like loyalty to us. [Source]
