Escape-artist chimp slips away for the second time in a month
8/13/2012CJ the chimp has had a busy and stressful month. On July 13 she and her now deceased mate Buddy, both rescued years ago and cared for since then by Timmi DeRosa and Lee Watkinson, managed to escape their cage and terrorized a Las Vegas neighborhood. The overexcited Buddy was tragically shot and killed for threatening behavior, while lonely CJ was tranquilized and returned to her cage. Now CJ has escaped again and has been uprooted to a new home as a result. Meanwhile, the owners are speculating that the latest escape may have been due to the actions of activists who believe chimps shouldn't be kept as pets. [Source]
