Pet Shop Boys enter Olympics with heartfelt 'Winner'

Imagine Whitney Houston's Olympic anthem "One Moment in Time" remade by the Pet Shop Boys, and you pretty much have "Winner," the lead-off single for their new album, "Elysium." The video debuted today, and it's a surprisingly heartfelt and utterly unexpected peek into the life of Dirty Diana, a transgender rookie on the London Rollergirls roller derby team. Along with shots of Diana at home applying make-up and stuffing her bra with toilet paper, we get a sense of the team's bond — not least when Diana crashes at one point and derby sister Shaolynn Scarlet hauls her back to her feet. With the Pet Shop Boys expected to perform at the London games closing ceremony, the low-key but seductive"Winner" has a chance to earn a gold (record) of its own.
